Hi Ravi, Dont loose ur confidence. Most of the Gmat takers scored well in second attempt and got admission good B ’ schools. Can u share ur individual section wise scores( verbal,Quant) . We need to concentrate on first 10 questions. I think in ur case u might got some wrong answers in the first 10 questions. These questions determines our score. They can drastically lower ur score from 700 to 600 if u put more wrong nswers .

Please share ur experience of questions u faced in the Gmat.

    Thanks Subbu.

    Hi Subbu

Thanks a lot dear for writting in. I got 44 in quant and 31 in verbal. Overall percentile of 68%. For a change i was not tensed during the exam. I dont remember kind of questions i got. I think u r right about first 10 question, i was more concerned to finish all the questions in time. And since i didnt score well i might have got easy questions.

    Thanks Ravi

First of all, 610 and 68th percentile aren’t that bad. You can still get admissions to some schools with these scores if you have good work experience, a strong application essay and reference letters, so don’t stress out too much.

I suspect that the 10 questions idea may be right, however it’s also quite important to answer all questions, since if you don’t your score will decrease dramatically to a lot lower than 600. I would focus on perfecting your timing in answering questions, and now that you’ve already went through the GMAT once doing this shouldn’t be too hard.

Other than that, go through more practice questions on this website and whatever you can find, note the type of questions that give you a hard time, and work on those. If you study hard, you should be able to increase your score for the next time you take the GMAT. Good luck.

    Ravi,

Since your verbal score is weaker than your math score, I would focus on this part. Try to identify what type of question (comprehension, sentence correction, etc.) is giving you a hard time and practice a lot. I believe that dealing with your biggest weakness will impact quickly and significantly your overall score. This will give you confidence to keep moving.

By the way, I don’t believe in the “first 10 questions theory”. This post explains better: http://gmat.learnhub.com/discussions/3982-the-first-10-questions

    Good luck

A lot of good universities across the US and Canada have a required GMAT score of only 600 or 550. You can find some great schools by checking out the LearnHub MBA school finder. It contains good schools, and you can look at which ones satisfy your educational needs.

610 in the second attempt is not bad at all…

put in some concious effort on verbal section and you should be able to crack it…

    all the best
