Pat , Kate and Mark charged a total of 162 hrs to a certain project. If Pat charged twice as much time to the project as Kate and 1/3 as much time as Mark , How many more hrs did Mark charge to the project than Kate ? 1) 18 2) 36 3) 72 4) 90 5) 108

ANS IS 4) 90 . Please explain.

    p=2k 3p=m

    p+p/2+3p=162

    p=162*2/9=36

    k=18 m=108

    m-k=90

    If Mark charges 6 hrs, Pat charges 2 hrs and Kate charges 1 hr.

    So the hrs charged by Mark, Pat and Kate are in the ratio 6:2:1.

    Hence the difference in the hrs charged by Mark and Kate = 5/9 (162) = 90 hrs
