On test day, you will not know ahead of time which questions will appear on your GMAT test. Therefore, those 78 multiple choice questions and 2 analytical essays will remain a mystery to you until you answer each essay and each question, one at a time. In anticipation of taking the GMAT exam, you will need to study test materials that contain comprehensive reviews of possible test concepts.
You must own the Official Guide for GMAT Review. Within the Official Guide, you will find actual, retired GMAT questions. While you will not see these same questions on your GMAT exam, you will probably see questions with the same types of fact patterns. However, the Official Guide for GMAT Review has one drawback; the book does not provide a comprehensive Quantitative and Verbal review. As a result, you may need to buy other companies’ GMAT Prep books in order to prepare for Word problems or Sentence Correction problems, for example, which may appear on the GMAT.
In addition to the Official Guide for GMAT Review, you must own EZ Solutions – Test Prep Series – Math Practice – GMAT® Basic Workbook and Advanced Workbook. These EZ Solutions books were made to help you to master the type of Quantitative questions that you are likely to see on test day. Keep in mind; the Advanced Workbook contains questions that resemble the hardest questions that you will encounter on the GMAT. But, you will need a math degree in order to understand the answers provided in these books. If you do not believe me, you can go to MBA.com and download the GMATPrep(™). Take one of the GMATPrep tests if you do not plan to take the GMAT for another 8 to 10 weeks. After taking the GMATPrep test, please review EZ Solutions Basic Workbook and Advanced Workbook; you will notice some remarkable similarities between the types of questions presented in the GMATPrep test and the types of questions presented in EZ Solutions books.
You must not forget about the Verbal Section of the GMAT. Add Barron’s GMAT book to your collection. The book provides you with a thorough review of the Verbal Section and the Analytical Writing Section. I doubt you will find a better book for sharpening your GMAT Verbal skills. Honestly, you will probably need more than your good looks and your undergraduate degree to do well on the GMAT. Hence, preparation is the key to mastering the GMAT’s Quantitative and Verbal sections. The Official Guide for GMAT Review will provide you with the most realistic types of GMAT questions because it contains former GMAT questions. Still, many people will require more practice problems in order to achieve a score of 650 or higher. EZ Solutions Basic and Advanced Workbook and Barron’s GMAT book will help you to reach your GMAT goal, if you are willing to devote the necessary time to study.
